What I learned at Photoshop World
The best thing you can do to improve your skills is to find some inspiration. Photoshop World did just that.
Check out the images I took on Friday at my Light Painting Workshop. Don't judge too harshly this was my first attempt.

Now check out my instructors website. This class was taught by Dave Black. He was my greatest inspiration this year. His work is amazing and his ability to teach was phenomenal.

Did you notice the balance beam picture with the smoke coming up from behind? On Monday I attended a class where he demonstrated that with a gymnast. Imagine sitting in a convention room with a balance beam set up in place of the stage.
One of the things that he talked about or emphasized is off camera lighting.
Find out what is meant by "off camera lighting". We will discuss this as a class on Friday.
My next inspiration was Julieanne Kost.

Notice her composites. They are full of meaning and are created from multiple pictures that she has taken. Notice the texture added to them. This is often a paper texture. Notice how they make the images look like a single piece of work and not just pictures pasted together.
Check out her blog at http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/She gives tutorials and step by step instructions. Find something you are interested in doing and ask plan for an upcoming assignment. (Maybe we should have an independent study unit where you get to choose your assignment.)
